FUTSAL REGISTRATION

Walkerton FC Futsal, for both adult and youth, is now on.

Futsal for grades 1-8 takes place Friday nights
at Walkerton DSS

Please note that I have had to tweak the teams slightly as another child has joined. Also, there are a couple of children who have not shown up for the last couple of weeks which may mean another tweak if they are not going to play. I would appreciate ALL parents emailing/calling whenever their child is not attending - that way, we can make sure that all of the children have a chance to play by making sure that other children are there to cover.

A couple of other things that need to be addressed before we continue on with this season:

* It is our expectation that you stay and watch your child play their game or designate a responsible adult if you are not there. Last week, there were very few parents there and if something would have gone wrong, we would have been left trying to track you down. We are all volunteers and we are involved in this program to provide exercise and fun for the children and to help them hone their skills. We are not here to provide a drop off for your children on Friday nights - this is a family activity. When your child scores a goal, makes a save, has a great kick - they turn around to see who was watching them.

* Last week and the week previous the children were playing rough and it was getting difficult for the volunteer ref to keep them under control. Futsal is not about how far and hard the ball can be kicked, it's about controlling and passing and playing as a team. If this play continues, children will be asked to sit out until they can calm down and play respectfully

* Thank you to the parents who have stepped up to assist with "coaching" the teams. Coaching simply means ensuring that all are getting equal time playing. We expect that a parent each week will fulfill this role for their child's team.

* December 2 and December 9 will be shortened times because on Dec 2 SHHS is not available and on Dec 9 WDSS is not available. We will shorten the games of all groups so that all can be accommodated. You will be notified of game times.

* We will be having photos again, likely in January or late December- you will be notified.

* Please watch the Walkerton Soccer website for changes or your email. Snow days will mean cancellation of futsal.

* Angela Coe/Jeff Roberts will be in charge for the next two weeks as Richard and I are unavailable.

Sr Futsal Schedule -SHHS Gym

* Games start at 7:00 and 8:00; 25 minute half, 2 minute half time

* Communication -Walkerton Minor Soccer website and email (www.walkertonsoccer.ca)

* Snow Day -No Futsal

* A parent or guardian is expected to be present at futsal while their child is participating
* If you are not present, you must designate a responsible person

Reminders and Rules

• 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 for loss
• goals can not be scored from the kick in
• players who are playing rough will be asked to sit out until they can calm down
• players who kick the ball deliberately at the wall will be asked to sit out until they can calm down
• children are asked to stay off the stage and from under the bleachers
• no charging the goalie
• All players are expected to act respectfully of each other, the ref and the coaches -failure to do so will have consequences of lost time playing for the game or future games

• All junior futsal games played at WDSS, Gym A/B.
• Older ages at SHHS.
• Teams may be subject to change.
• * A parent or guardian is expected to be present at futsal while their child is participating
